Meet the East Anglian Site Engineering Team: Sasha

The E.A.S.E team is full of knowledgeable, professional engineers and administrators, all highly trained to deliver only the best service. Each engineer comes with their own strengths and experience, and we think it’s time for you to meet the people behind the work.

In the first of our Meet the Team series, we’d like to introduce you to Sasha, one of our most recent team additions. We’ve asked Sasha some questions about herself and her role to provide a little insight into who she is and why she chose site engineering for her career.

Tell us about yourself

I’m a 22-year-old female Site Engineer who enjoys spending her free time being creative, whether that’s painting or cake making. When I’m not being creative, I’m usually being nerdy, burying my head into a good book, watching my favourite Marvel movies, or playing my favourite games on my Switch (usually Pokémon games).

How long have you worked as a site engineer?

I started an apprenticeship as a site engineer straight after finishing school at 16. I’ve now been in the construction industry for over five years.

What made you want to be a site engineer?

It all started on a Saturday one day when I was 13 years old. I wanted to watch the rugby with my dad, but beforehand he had to pop into work first for the morning, which is where I ended up giving him a hand with labouring. From this experience I learnt that I enjoyed being in an on-site environment.

After this, I did research into the different trades on site and had my heart set on site engineering.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I enjoy getting to experience being both physically active on site and using my brain in the office. Additionally, I love being part of a multidisciplinary team where I can expand my knowledge into other areas.

What is your favourite thing about your job?

My favourite thing about my job is knowing I’m a valued member of a large team who supports me throughout my day and being part of a friendly environment where I can have a good laugh.

Do you have any favourite moments from your time as a site engineer?

My favourite time as a Site Engineer so far has to be winning the Apprentice of the Year Award at the HBCA Awards in 2021.

As a female in a male-dominated industry, what would you say to any other women out there considering a site engineering role?

I would say that even though the construction engineering industry is considered male-dominated, I’ve been in the industry for over five years now and have seen a large difference in the industry from when I first started to where it is now.

More women are getting involved within the industry every year I’m here, and I enjoy watching the industry evolve to include more women, as we’re just as capable as the men in our field.

Turn to E.A.S.E for expert site engineers

Sasha is an asset to our team and a great person to have around. She’s hardworking and dedicated, with a real passion for what she does, and we’re very glad to have her here at E.A.S.E.
