Our Efforts To Work In A Greener Way
Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to be a part of various projects, all of which have had the same core focuses in mind: reducing unnecessary waste, promoting sustainable practices and using recycled materials to minimise our environmental impact.
An example of a recent project we’ve been working on that’ll contribute towards creating renewable energy is the £400m monopile manufacturing facility in Teesside that we discussed in a previous blog.
By harnessing the power of the sun and wind, we’ve been able to reduce our reliance on traditional fuel and energy sources, such as fossil fuels, to help contribute towards reducing the volume of greenhouse gas emissions.
We’ve also taken significant steps towards achieving Net Zero and are currently looking to join the Carbon Charter to further our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.
In addition, we’ve recently acquired an electric car to transport us from visit to visit, which is a testament to our dedication towards working more sustainably.
So, What Is ‘Green Engineering’? And Why Is It So Important?
In short, ‘Green Engineering’ is an approach that focuses on generating sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions through designing and developing energy-efficient processes that produce minimum waste and minimise the impact on the world in which we live, creating a healthier environment for us and future generations to inhabit.

With electric vehicles taking the modern world by storm, the engineering and construction industry is also working towards making the switch from traditional fuel sources, namely red diesel despite it being the industry standard for many years, to greener and more sustainable alternatives. For example, hybrid technologies and, of course, solely electric.
Vertical Forests
What is a vertical forest? We hear you ask. A vertical forest is, as the name suggests, a new generation of high-rise urban buildings entirely covered by the leaves of trees and plants.
The concept was first designed by Italian architect Stefano Boeri with the intention of allowing and promoting nature to coexist with architecture in urban areas, creating a complex urban ecosystem where air quality in cities dramatically improves along with the energy efficiency of the buildings in which they grow.
